360 Controller Mod thats worth Owning

Modded 360 Controller

There are some mods out there that are truly stupid and then there are some that are simply amazing.  The modder known as F00 f00 has made what could possibly be the best first person shooter controller available.

Taking what he had available, a Xbox 360 controller, and breaking it down and relocating the buttons for maximum comfort and utility is pretty damn awesome.  With time and practice I could see this controller being way better then what we currently have.

The 360 controller is probably one of the best ‘feeling’ and ‘operating’ wireless controllers out there.  It works great in almost every situation when it come to first person games.  The only lacking thing about the current 360 controller is the idea that you have to remove your right thumb to hit the face buttons on the controller. (A, B, X, and Y)  This mod makes it so you never have to relocate your thumb, its always plugged right on the analog stick, where it belongs.

I know something like this will never hit retail shelves, but I wish it would.  If a company took this idea and ran with it, made a ‘perfect’ first person shooter controller and marketed it for the public, I’m sure it would sell just fine, especially for the demographic of the 360 audience.  The only major problem for something like this is two fold; first the controller needs to be cheaper (or the same price) then the standard 360 controller.  No one will fork out another $50 dollars for another controller if theirs does the ‘trick’ just fine.  Secondly, you would need the support of multiple publishers to back the controller, make it a viable option for your gaming needs. With no ‘real’ support from the games, the controller will just end up in the heap of crap we know as useless accessories.

Just food for thought, I found this mod to be quite interesting and I would love to see something like this hit store shelves.

The idea seems to make a lot of sense. But the reason a Mad Catz or Pelican will never put this on the market is because it’s too much of a niche. How many 360 owners would pay 40 + dollars for a controller that is only useful with a specific game genre?

I think there is a ‘market’ for this type of controller, as long as the controller is still useful for multiple games. Yes a ‘tuned’ up shooter controller is awesome but if it can still be viable for other games then it could stand a chance. (As long as its not expensive)
